Dear Mother,

I received your letter some time ago but have not had time to write before till now. It found me well and in good health and hope when this reaches you it may not find you otherwise. I have gave up all hopes of ever getting a letter from you again. I had wrote to you and Father twice and did not hear from you. I did not know what the matter was. Did I not use you well when at home on furlough? Of course I did not stay at home much because I did not have but a little while to stay and I wanted to go all around and see everybody. Do you hear from Father?

If so, give me his address & I will write to him. Phebe, I will send you one of my photographs. It is taken just as I am every day while on duty. I wish you would get some taken and send me one. You must excuse this poor letter and poor writing for I am in a hurry. Give my love to Ed and wife and all who enquire after me. And keep a share for yourself. Write soon if please. No more. so goodbye from your son, — Henry Edy
