My Dear Mother,
I will now try to let you know that I am still in good health and spirits and hope you are the same. I have not got mustered out yet but I expect to be in a few days. I have got to go back to Chattanooga to be discharged. I am going tomorrow. I shall be home in a few days—-how many, I don’t know exactly, but it won’t be long. I went to the Medical Director’s today and I found Jim had gone home. I hope I shall get there before he comes away. The M. D. says he can stay 5 or 6 days over his time and there won’t be anything said.
Well, I will not write much now till I know what I am to do. So goodbye for this time. — Ed Whipple
